During Prohibition, loudmouth Harlem grifter Ray Gibson (Eddie Murphy) and conservative bank teller Claude Banks (Martin Lawrence) are wrongfully convicted of murder after a bootlegging run goes wrong in Mississippi. Sentenced to life in prison, the two very different men form an unlikely friendship that spans six decades — bickering, bonding, and surviving together through the 20th century.
